Welcome to the new Buttercups Training Introduction to Pharmacy course.
Embarking on a new career is exciting. It provides fresh opportunities for personal growth and development. We are particularly excited that you are interested in a career in pharmacy. Working in a pharmacy is a rewarding and fulfilling role; you will have a direct impact on improving the health of the public. It is also a responsible and specialised role. You will need to be suitably trained and have the right skillsets. But - don’t worry if you have no experience or training yet. This course has been developed for those who are interested in working in a pharmacy, but do not have much, or even any, experience in the pharmacy industry. It’s an entry level course designed for those that want to get a foot in the door, but have not secured employment.
This course is open to everyone. (Even if you’re under 16, you’re more than welcome. Just ask your parents or guardians for permission.) Unlike other pharmacy-related courses that we offer, you DO NOT need to be employed in a pharmacy to do this course. It will give you a perfect background to the key basics of pharmacy and the job roles that you may wish to pursue. It will equip you with the necessary tools to help secure the job you would like in the wide world of pharmacy.
After completing this course, you will have a good understanding of the role pharmacy plays within the UK and the NHS.
You will understand the different pharmacy sectors and the role they play in contributing to public health. You will also be able to recognise the key roles and responsibilities of a pharmacist, as well as the roles of the pharmacy team members.
What’s more, it will provide you with the confidence needed to prosper in the world of work. We know it can be difficult to find work, especially in the current climate. This course will guide you step-by-step through the daunting prospect of looking for work. Starting with what you need to do before looking for work. So, this will include CVs, completing applications and of course the job hunting itself. Following this, we’ll help you with what to do, say and wear at an interview. Hopefully, this advice will prove invaluable. If you are new to the UK, you’ll be able to find all the necessary links for how to get visas and permission to work, etc.
Once you have the job you want, our guidance will help you to enhance your working experience. This course offers guidance on how to behave at work, how to utilise your time effectively and teamwork. This will not only improve your ability to do the job, but also your prospects for the future.
Your potential role in pharmacy is a very important one. The medicines counter assistant is the first point of contact for all customers, the face of the pharmacy. Remember many of the customers will be discussing a health complaint that they haven’t experienced before and will require fast, professional, confidential, accurate and efficient service. It’ll be your job to deal with them correctly in order to ensure they receive the best possible treatment. This course will give the basics that will assist you for when you start on the job training.
We hope you enjoy the course!
